Kasarani police hunt female Chief Inspector accused of throwing girlfriend from sixth floor

A woman has been left paralysed after her girlfriend allegedly hurled her from the sixth-floor balcony of an apartment in Thome Estate, Nairobi.
The victim, 25-year-old Nicole Omondi, is admitted at Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH), where she is awaiting critical spinal surgery. Meanwhile, police in Kasarani are in pursuit of Chief Inspector Agnes Ndanu, a senior officer, who is currently attached to Matungulu Division Police Headquarters, over the alleged assault.
Kasarani DCIO Aloyce Mboya said Ndanu’s rank within the National Police Service would not shield her from investigation, adding that the Independent Policing Oversight Authority has been notified to oversee the case.
Omondi said the confrontation began after a night out when the pair were walking home and a male friend greeted her in a way Ndanu allegedly interpreted as flirtation. The disagreement followed them back to the apartment.
According to Omondi, Ndanu searched through her phone and found messages from the same man. What began as a heated argument quickly turned violent.
She alleges Ndanu struck her repeatedly on the head with a glass bottle before dragging her onto the balcony and pushing her over the edge.
Investigators at the scene recovered blood-stained bedding and shattered glass from the apartment. Police say this evidence is consistent with the victim’s account. Phone records also show Omondi had made a brief distress call to her father during the assault.
When he called back, Omondi says Ndanu answered the phone, told him she was disciplining her, then disconnected the call moments before the fall.
Doctors at Kenyatta National Hospital said Omondi survived because her fall was broken by an iron-sheet roof and razor wire. She, however, sustained severe spinal injuries that left her paralysed from the waist down.
The search for Ndanu intensified after reports that she visited Omondi at the hospital earlier this week before leaving when members of staff recognised her.
Police are appealing to anyone with information on Ndanu’s whereabouts to contact the Kasarani Directorate of Criminal Investigations office
