Ofweneke bows to pressure, Apologises to Stevo Simple Boy over Kibe’s controversial remarks

Dr. Ofweneke has issued an official apology to Kenyan singer Stevo Simple Boy after Andrew Kibe made harsh and controversial comments on the Lessons at 30 podcast.

The apology came after Andrew Kibe, who was a guest on the Lessons at 30 podcast, claimed that individuals like Simple Boy should not reproduce, a sentiment that triggered significant condemnation from Kenyan citizens, who labelled the remarks insensitive.

In a video release, Dr. Ofweneke has blamed himself for not stepping in during the discussion to counter the remarks, rather than allowing them to pass unchallenged. He has shouldered full responsibility for what was broadcast on his program.

“I’m not going to divert the attention and look for somebody to blame, either my guest or my production team. I’m actually going to take the blame myself as Dr Ofweneke and as the host,” he said.

In his apology, Dr. Ofweneke described Stevo Simple Boy as a hardworking artist whom he respects and admires so much. He expressed regret for any pain caused by the comments and acknowledged that the discussion could have made the artist feel devalued.

Ofweneke announced the start of editing the podcast to remove the controversial segment as a way to address the backlash, saying the move was intended to prevent further harm and demonstrate accountability.
