DCP’s Sammy Kamau Clinches Ol Kalou Parliamentary Seat in By-Election Victory

OL KALOU, Nyandarua County – Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) candidate Sammy Kamau Ngotho has been elected the new Member of Parliament for Ol Kalou Constituency after securing a resounding victory in Thursday’s by-election.

According to the official results released by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), Kamau garnered 33,937 votes, comfortably defeating his closest challenger, UDA’s Samuel Muchina Nyaga, who received 5,304 votes. Stephen Wanyoike Waithaka of the National Liberal Party (NLP) finished a distant third with 391 votes. A total of 39,632 valid votes were cast in the by-election.

Kamau’s emphatic win underscores DCP’s growing influence in the Mt. Kenya region and delivers the party a parliamentary seat in one of the country’s most closely watched by-elections. The poll attracted significant political attention, with leaders from both the government and the opposition actively campaigning in the constituency ahead of voting day.

The by-election was conducted peacefully despite heightened security across the constituency. Following the declaration of the results, Kamau’s supporters broke into celebrations, hailing the outcome as a decisive endorsement of the DCP candidate’s agenda.

In his first remarks after being declared the winner, Kamau thanked the people of Ol Kalou for their overwhelming support and pledged to serve all residents regardless of political affiliation. He promised to prioritise development, improve service delivery and champion the interests of the constituency in the National Assembly.
